Below you will find a quick 10 point checklist highlighting important factors which need to be considered when buying a static caravan and looking for a static caravan park
1. How many people (adults and children) will be staying on a regular basis at your holiday home?
Kids Cubby Storage
2. Do you plan to sub-let your caravan? If you do you need to make sure your chosen park allows it and you may want to go for a caravan that is quite plain but robust.
3. Do you plan to do a lot of cooking in your caravan or will you be dining out? This will determine whether the size of your kitchen, storage space and level of equipment is needed or not! Why not save on the kitchen expense and go for a holiday home with a bigger lounge instead.
4.Will you be staying for a week at a time or only at the weekends? This will determine whether those costly kitchen luxury such as washing machine and dryer and actually worth the expense.
5. Will you be using your holiday home during the winter months? You may need to consider heating & insulation and consider fuel costs.
6. Does your holiday home have to be brand new? You can pick up a caravan on site (saving around £3000 on transport and siting costs) which may have had only one or two seasons wear and be as good as new for half the price.
7. Is a separate lounge important? Most holiday homes incorporate the dining area within the living room. If you wish to have it separate we would suggest space saving sliding doors rather than the conventional swinging out door.
8. How many people will regularly sit at the dining room table? Make sure it is big enough!
9. How many bathrooms do you require? For families of 4 or more two toilets are required to beat the morning bathroom queue!
10. How much cupboard space is required? Are you happy to load up for each visit or would you prefer to leave spare personal items (cloths, toys, equipment) at your holiday caravan? If so plenty of cubby holes and hide away spots could be important.
